Dr. Dorothy Celeste Boulding Ferebee was a lifelong advocate for racial equality and women’s healthcare. Dr. Ferebee graduated among the top of her class from Tufts University School of Medicine and began practicing in Washington, D.C. While in D.C., Dr. Ferebee opened her own practice, set up a society for working mothers, joined the faculty at Howard University Medical School, and became the founding president of the Women’s Institute.
