The Fashion A ssociation at LSU hosts an annual fashion show to showcase student work from the Textiles, Apparel Design and Merchandising Department. As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2020 show was canceled, but we were determined to bring it back in 2021. For the 2020-2021 school year, I served as the President of the Fashion Association at LSU and was enrolled in the Fashion Event Production course in the spring semester. As a class, we created the concept for REVIVAL, an adapted version of our usual fashion show with a premiere-like screening for the community to attend.
REVIVAL would serve as the return of our annual show and take place among one of LSU's most iconic architectural elements, the arches of the quad. The location concept came while scouting campus scenery and finding the following quote for my concept board: "walking through an archway represents the sloughing off of the old and moving into a new phase of life." REVIVAL would be our annual fashion show's new phase of life.

With our concept boards in mind, I created a logo for the show. Using Pantone's 2021 Colors of the Year, Ultimate Gray and Illuminating, the logo is reminiscent of a Pantone swatch card featuring a minimalist interpretation of the LSU arches. I believed that the colors —one dull and one bright— were a suitable reflection of what we had been through over the past year and how we were stepping out of duller times and moving toward brighter ones.

We utilized existing partnerships with Time Warp Boutique of Baton Rouge and PSS Sound to sponsor our styling event and create our film. Our styling event reflected the underlying passing of time theme occurring throughout our production discussions by featuring elements of past decades. The designer features were independent of theme and varied by the designer's experience and required collection assignments.
REVIVAL featured the looks of over 20 LSU student designers and stylists and premiered to the LSU and Baton Rouge community in the LSU Student Union Theatre on May 3, 2021. I was honored to take part in the planning and production of REVIVAL and enjoyed participating in the Styling Competition and walking as a model for the Senior Fashion Show Chair, Olivia Lapuyade, as well.
